Priority · Energy
High Energy Costs
Keep energy abundant and affordable with domestic production from all sources, including the ethanol grown and made in central Illinois.
One sentence of energy policy
Bill's energy position fits in a single line from his Goals page: “It is imperative that we maintain abundant and affordable domestic energy production from all sources, including ethanol.”
Notice the two words doing the work. Abundant means there is plenty of it, and affordable means a family or a farm can pay for it. He asks for both.

Why ethanol sits in that sentence
Bill calls agriculture the number one industry in this district, and corn is the crop behind ethanol. When he names ethanol in a list of energy sources, he is naming something grown and made right here in central Illinois.
That is why this plank belongs next to his Agriculture priority. Energy is a cost every farm carries, and it is also a market for what the farm grows.
For a household in Morton, Tremont or Mackinaw, it comes down to what keeps the lights on and the truck fueled each month.
What Bill says he will do
The commitment is the one in his sentence: maintain abundant and affordable domestic energy production, from all sources. He doesn't pick winners among them, and he names ethanol so it isn't left out.
His Goals page makes no other promise on this subject, so this page makes none either. To ask him a specific question about energy in the 87th, call (309) 840-0969 or write to bill@billhauter.com.
