Education

Fact-based, tried-and-true teaching, school choice, local control and real parental involvement, and an outspoken voice against ideology in the classroom.

His position on what gets taught

Bill's education position is the most pointed one on his Goals page, so here it is in his own words: “I will be deeply informed and outspoken opponent of the woke, radical and immoral indoctrination in our schools.”

He then names specifics. “I oppose sex education being taught in Kindergarten and I will not tolerate Critical Race Theory curriculum in Illinois schools. I will fight ideological left-wing social justice requirements to graduate.” Those are his stated lines, and they are worth reading before you decide how you feel about them.

A father of five who has also taught

Bill and his wife, Shelley, have five children, and by his published biography they have been married for thirty years. They are members of Cornerstone Baptist Church in Groveland.

He has also spent time on the teaching side. His published biography lists him as an assistant clinical professor at the University of Illinois College of Medicine in Peoria, in both surgery and emergency medicine. He is also a Morton native who moved back to the area in 2018.

School choice, local control, and parents in the room

On the positive side of the ledger, Bill says: “I will advocate for fact-based tried-and-true education methods, school choice and more local control with high levels of parental involvement.”

Each piece is stated as something he will advocate for: proven methods, choice for families, decisions made closer to home, and parents who are involved at a high level. If you have a question about how that would work for your own school district, the campaign line is the place to ask.
